Trailblazers are looking for empathetic, non-judgmental mentors to provide 12 months of weekly 1:1 remote support to men being released from prison.

The Education, Training & Employment (ETE) team supports our mentees (aged 18 – 35) in custody to break down barriers to employability which is then followed through into the community to help them apply for meaningful and career changing roles in sector specific industries such as Construction, Engineering, Catering & Hospitality or the Self-Employment route.

The ETE team are looking to build a team of volunteers to shape their existing ETE service in the Thames Valley area. Trailblazers is looking for reliable volunteer mentors who are able to commit to the role for up to 12 months providing weekly 1:1 ETE sessions remotely either by telephone or via Zoom / MS Teams digital platforms

Although ETE is a priority need for our mentees, you may be faced with other pressing and supporting issues such as emotional well-being, and accommodation needs. We are looking for highly motivated, personable, and strong communicators.

Volunteers Mentors should live within a 30 mile radius of Bicester.

Trailblazers can offer:

  • Full Training and ongoing support.
  • Expenses for travel reimbursed.
  • Volunteer Welcome Pack.
  • The opportunity to enhance your skills and gain valuable experience.
  • The chance to make a real difference in your community and to the life of a young man transitioning to life post-release.

About Trailblazers Mentoring

Trailblazers Mentoring is a UK charity which provides 1:1 mentorship and practical support to people in prison and post release. Since 1998, we have been supporting about 150 people a year in an effort to prevent reoffending and improve outcomes for those leaving prison, whilst helping our mentees to find a new direction in life. Our work inspires and encourages people to change their future, rebuild their lives and make a positive impact on their community.

Our most recent project, based in Oxfordshire, supports men to remove barriers to education, training and employment (ETE) and be a role model to inspire new futures.
