Volunteers to drive our wheelchair adapted minibus to collect and return older clients for our day centre

Our volunteer drivers help local older people access the benefits of our day centre. They collect the minibus from our centre and together with carer escort bring our clients and return them home in the afternoon. Actual shift lengths depend on the number of people collected and traffic but are typically in the morning 8.45am to 10.30am and in the afternoon 3.00pm to 4.30pm. Most people choose a particular shift which suits their personal situation and then fill-in others where they can.

Insurance requirements are that drivers must have a full UK car driving licence (B category) for at least two years; be over 25 and younger than 75 years of age. Also volunteer drivers need to be comfortable driving a larger vehicle; experience of van or equivalent driving would be desirable although not essential.
