Voluntary Web Designer and Host to support EYAI with the redevelopment and ongoing hosting of our website.

About the role

We are looking for a Web Designer and Host to support EYAI with the redevelopment and ongoing hosting of our website.

In the first instance, we need someone to add a landing page that has already been prepared while the full website is being redeveloped.

As our Web Designer and Host, you will take the lead on the design, layout and technical management of the EYAI website, helping us restore and strengthen our online presence.

Funding is available for the website redevelopment work. Once the website is live, ongoing hosting support will be on a voluntary basis.

Main responsibilities

  • Meet with EYAI staff to discuss requirements and agree a clear brief.
  • Ensure the website remains compliant with relevant charity and accessibility requirements.
  • Keep up to date with design trends, accessibility standards and developments in web technology.
  • Test website functionality and usability to ensure a positive user experience.
  • Update the website with events, fundraising activity, news and job adverts as needed.

Additional duties

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider team to create and maintain an engaging, accessible and effective website that reflects EYAI’s mission and supports its activities.

  • Lead on the design and layout of the EYAI website.
  • Use web content management systems to build and maintain website pages.
  • Work with EYAI teams to ensure website content supports organisational goals.
  • Implement and maintain policies and requested updates, including safeguarding-related content.
  • Liaise with the Marketing Lead and Operations Manager to deliver tasks on time.
  • Review website performance and suggest improvements based on usage data.
  • Respond promptly to technical issues and work with the team to resolve them.

Key skills and experience

  • Strong technical skills and enthusiasm for website design and maintenance.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confident IT skills and familiarity with website platforms or content management systems.
