Summary

To support the charity’s mission by delivering music therapy sessions that promote emotional well-being, communication, and social interaction.

Detailed description

We are looking for a music therapy volunteer to deliver music therapy sessions to our children with disabilities and learning needs.

  • Engage children in musical activities tailored to their abilities and needs (e.g., singing, playing instruments, rhythm exercises).
  • Encourage participation and provide positive reinforcement to build confidence and enjoyment.
  • Help set up and tidy away instruments and equipment before and after sessions.
  • Monitor and support children during sessions, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers to create a nurturing environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies at all times.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and committed to scheduled sessions.


Training & Support Provided:

  • Induction and safeguarding training.
  • Ongoing support from the Volunteer Coordinator and Children's Services Coordinator.
  • Opportunity to learn about neurodiversity.


Time Commitment:

2–4 hours per month, flexible scheduling, minimum 6-month commitment

About Action for Children

We work with families and children aged 0-19 who have a disability and need additional support. We offer short breaks for children who can take part in fun activities and group activities, appropriate for all ages and disabilities, with experienced staff to support them.

Bucks Activity Project provides quality short break activities to support children and young people to take part in activities across Buckinghamshire County.
