Role: Volunteer – Speaker Role
Location: Various sites across Buckinghamshire, dependent on the event
Manager: Volunteer Coordinator
What we are looking for
We are seeking friendly and enthusiastic people to raise awareness and promote the work of Youth Concern by attending local events and giving talks about the charity’s work. You can help engage your local community with the work we do and encourage others to get involved by donating, fundraising or volunteering.
What you will be doing
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Deliver talks and presentations to local organisations and community groups e.g. WI, Round Table, Rotary, schools, multi-faith groups etc.
- Attend cheque presentations and officially thank donors for their support.
- Encourage individuals, local organisations and groups to fundraise and/or volunteer on behalf of Youth Concern.
- Keep up to date with current work and projects at Youth Concern.
- Act as an ambassador for what we do, displaying enthusiasm and commitment.
The skills you need
- Experienced and confident public speaker
- Able to uphold Youth Concern’s values in your role
- A good communicator with an interest/experience in speaking to an audience
- Sociable, adaptable and reliable
- Able to travel to different events and locations at different times
- Enthusiastic about Youth Concern Have a positive attitude with a proactive approach
- Comfortable working under your own initative and as part of a team

This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
What we ask of you
- To complete an Enhanced DBS check with us.
- To provide two references from non-family members and other relevant documents related to the role.
- To read, have knowledge of and keep to all the charity’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
- To complete an induction and any training related to the role.
- Complete mandatory training and role related renewals, as requested.

We are inclusive; we aim to support all 13-25 year olds, but we specialise in helping those facing additional challenges. In running a Drop-in Centre, counselling and homelessness prevention projects, Youth Concern’s holistic service delivers real benefits for young people with multiple needs.
