Join our team of speakers who visit local events groups, businesses, schools and churches to share about WHC.
Why it matters
You’ll break down common misconceptions of homelessness and share inspiring stories about people who we have helped. How lives have been saved and changed. You’ll let people know what their support helps to achieve and by spreading the word, more people in a housing crisis will know that we are here to help.
From WI groups, scouts and guides, school assemblies, local businesses, church meetings and more, we get invited to share about WHC. The more people we have on the team the more we can get out there and share about what we do.
If you’re confident talking to groups of people and are passionate about what we do then this could be the role for you.
You can let us know which type of engagements you are happy to attend.
We’ll provide you with:
- Community Engagement training so you are confident and equipped to speak about homelessness.
- Opportunities to shadow speakers
- Stories from our clients and guests
- Powerpoint presentations (if required)
- Literature to share such as our latest newsletter
- Any equipment required such as pull up banners and collection tins
How it will work:
As and when we are invited to speak, we send out a poll to our team of speakers. This gives all of the details including the time and place, how large the group is likely to be and the average age and how long they would like the speaker to talk for.
You’ll be able to reply with a yes, no, or “if needed” for the engagement. Our speaker coordinator will then allocate the engagement based on the replies we receive. We can also offer opportunities to shadow so you can see how it all works.
You’ll collect any literature or equipment needed from our office and return it afterwards. If this is difficult for you then please let us know with plenty of notice and we can arrange to deliver.
