Be on hand to assist families using the centre if needed.
The centre opens every other Saturday from 10-4pm for our clients use but volunteers either do 9.30-1pm or 1-4.30 pm on Saturdays of their choice. Ideally once a month or bimonthly but rota is set up 3 months in advance and people offer dates they can do. We are very flexible.
Training is given by the Co-ordinator and includes an induction, role of volunteers and written job description, copies of all the centres policies, essential procedures, fire, safeguarding etc. initial and ongoing training .
DBS checks are required for this role and applied for by the centre at no cost.
We send an application form and ask for 2 references but also suggest anyone interested contacts our co-ordinator to organise an informal visit to the centre on one Saturday to see what the role entails. We also have a 3 month trial period once the role starts to check we and you are happy and suited to the job.
This is an incredibly rewarding role... helping children reconnect with a separated parent/ other family member and seeing them move forward and reestablish bonds that had been broken. Would really suit people interested in helping children and families and showing care and empathy to others. People considering adoption, fostering, social work, nursing, teaching and parents and grandparents have all really enjoyed this role in the past. Please see our website for more information on what we do.
