Trustee to lead on marketing activities Bringing local news to the blind, visually impaired and others who are print-disabled e
Through our digital recording of local news we keep those in our communities who have difficulties in reading in touch with what's going on locally. Most of our listeners are elderly, some very elderly, many live alone, often they have other disabilities too. They can be very vulnerable and isolated. Our service enables them to still feel part of their local communities.
We have undertaken a sustained promotional campaign involving networking with other charities, care and residential homes, and statutory bodies, exhibiting at events targeted on the elderly and giving demos and presentations to local community groups. This has led to significantly increased number of listeners. This has been backed up with a modern website, attractive promotional leaflets and posters and other marketing collateral. We have also been successful in bidding for funds for capital expenditure and in receiving some substantial donations so we are also in a good position financially.
The new Trustee will maintain these activities and build on them to take the next major step forward in our development. Some of the initiatives we would like to pursue are:
* We were successful in bidding for funds for a branded gazebo that will enable us to exhibit at large outdoor public fetes and festivals that occur across southern Buckinghamshire during the summer months, getting our profile up amongst the public.
* Get a Social Media campaign off the ground targeting the children and grandchildren of potential elderly listeners.
* Renew a promotional campaign to care and residential homes which we began last year.
* And we need to continue fund-raising whenever it is appropriate.
This role needs a proactive person with a marketing/sales background, comfortable networking with a variety of organisations and people, good at presenting to small/medium sized groups. Most of the activities are in working hours so might well suit somebody recently retired or otherwise with time available during the day. You can learn more about what we do on our website and listen to this and last week's recordings there.

About South Bucks Talking News
We are dedicated to bringing local news to those in the southern part of Buckinghamshire who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise unable to read the news through a disability. Our teams record articles every week from the Bucks Free Press Group and other local journals covering southern Buckinghamshire. The recordings are copied onto small USB memory sticks and posted on Saturday in specially designed plastic envelopes to recipients, who can then listen at their convenience at home. The service is entirely free to listeners.
