At Pace, we believe every child and young person with neurodisability or developmental differences should have the opportunity to thrive.
We are looking for new volunteer Trustees to join our Board and help guide Pace through the next stage of our development.
This is an opportunity to use your knowledge, skills or lived experience to make a meaningful difference — helping ensure that Pace continues to deliver excellent, impactful services for children, young people and their families, while remaining well governed and sustainable for the future.
Who we’re looking for
We would particularly welcome people who can bring experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Education — particularly specialist education, SEND, school leadership, governance or the wider education sector
- Finance and accountancy — ideally a qualified or experienced accountant who can contribute to strong financial oversight and sustainability
- Lived experience of SEND — as a parent, carer, family member, disabled or neurodivergent person, or someone with other relevant lived experience
You may bring expertise across more than one of these areas, but you certainly don’t need to. We are interested in the perspective and experience you can bring to the Board.
You do not need to have been a Trustee before. What matters is that you share our commitment to children, young people and families and are willing to contribute thoughtfully, constructively and collaboratively.
What does being a Pace Trustee involve?
Our Trustees work collectively to provide oversight, challenge and support to the organisation. You will help us think about the big questions: Are we delivering the quality and impact children and families deserve? Are we making good decisions? Are we using our resources responsibly? And are we building an organisation that will be here for families for the long term?
The Board meets approximately 10 times each year. Meetings are predominantly remote, with one face-to-face meeting each year. We can also offer a hybrid approach where this makes participation more accessible.
Trustees will also need some time outside meetings to read papers, prepare and contribute their expertise when appropriate.
