Clinical (Nursing) Trustee: Ensures safe, high‑quality care through clinical expertise, CQC compliance, strong governance and service development.
TRUSTEE ROLE DESCRIPTION – CLINICAL (NURSING)
Specific Responsibilities for the Clinical (Nursing) Trustee:
- Support and advise the Board of Trustees regarding nursing and clinical service elements of the service delivered by Helen & Douglas House
- To offer advice, support and constructive challenge to the Director of Clinical services and Medical Director in the further development of the organisation’s clinical services.
- To support, share expertise and be a critical friend to the Director of Clinical Services and Medical Director in the delivery of services and development of an innovative and developmental model of service provision.
- To support the Director of Clinical Services and Medical Director in ensuring that the organisation is compliant with its obligations and the regulations of the Care Quality Commission.
- To provide strategic oversight and board level assurance of the charity’s clinical governance.
- To provide guidance, oversight and scrutiny of ethical decision-making frameworks.
- To assist the Director of Clinical Services and Medical Director to build and maintain effective networks within the clinical sector and the NHS.
- To be a full voting member of the Clinical Governance sub-committee, and such other sub-committees as might be appropriate.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Current valid registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council is desirable.
- Evidencable recent experience in a Senior Nursing role, preferably involving children, palliative care, community care or other clinical experience relevant to our beneficiaries.
- Demonstrable understanding of appropriate and effective governance structures and processes within a clinical service provider organisation.
- Demonstrable senior experience of operating compliantly within an environment regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
- Evidencable current continuing professional development and demonstrable knowledge of latest regulation and compliance requirements within the healthcare settings that the charity operates.
- Evidencable experience of developing a clinical service/s.
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Governance within a healthcare setting, particularly the management of patient data.
