Treasurer Sea Scouts Group (Hanslope & Castlethorpe)

We are looking for a treasurer to join our small local scouts group board of trustees. A key member of the Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for ensuring strong financial stewardship and supporting the charity to use its resources effectively in pursuit of its mission. 

Working closely with the Chair, other trustees, and lead volunteer responsible for operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership — Maintain an overview of the charity’s accounts - preparing updates for board meetings and the AGM on expenditure and budget setting.
• Financial Controls & Compliance — Ensure appropriate financial controls, policies, and procedures are in place and adhered to, in line with charity law and best practice.
• Management Accounts & Reporting — Present clear, accurate financial information to the Board, enabling informed decision‑making.
• Annual Accounts & Audit — Oversee the preparation of annual accounts, liaise with the MK District Scouts.
• Financial administration - approve and process invoices for payment on a weekly basis.

What are we looking for?

• Someone with financial and / or accounting expertise to oversee financial planning and governance
• Analytical Skills — Ability to interpret financial information, identify trends, and communicate clearly to non‑financial colleagues.
• Integrity & Accountability — Commitment to transparency, accuracy, and high ethical standards.
• Collaborative Working Style — Willingness to work closely with trustees, volunteers, and external partners.
• The ability to attend evening board meetings in person in Hanslope village approximately 5 times per year.
• Commitment to the role for min of one year ideally longer.

What difference will you make?

Currently the District Scouts Treasurer is covering this role on a temporary basis. We are looking for someone to continue the effective financial oversight for the group as it expands to support more young people in the area. You will receive a good handover, training and plenty of support.
