We’re seeking volunteers to provide dedicated support to help equip our residents with the skills and confidence they need to live more independently.

Bearbrook Place offers supported accommodation to people who are either homeless, or at risk of becoming so. Spread across two wings, the service is able to support young people aged between 16 – 25 and adults aged between 18 – 55. The property as a range of communal areas too, including a lounge and garden, which provides space for various activities. Alongside supported accommodation, the service provides wrap-around support so that people can gain the skills and confidence they need to live more independently.

We are looking for volunteers to help clients with activities/workshops where they can learn skills to stay independent and connect with the local community. We are open to ideas of what volunteers can help with but some activities we have in mind are helping with cooking, art and craft, yoga, exercise in group or 1-2-1, art, DIY, gardening, knitting, etc.

Please note that the volunteers don't need to have experience we need you to be:

• Caring, committed who want to make a difference.

• Dedicate time on a regular basis.

  • Willingness go through training and background checks
  • Resilience and flexibility – as our clients have had challenging experiences sometimes it can take them a while to come out of their shell. It may take some time to set up activities effectively but with a bit of time and patience, we are certain this will work well and provide a sense of reward and achievement.

About Connection Support

At Connection Support our team of staff members and volunteers work alongside people to overcome life’s challenges. Why? Because our mission is to support everyone in our society to become safely and sustainably housed and live as independently as possible. And to do that we provide a wide range of services which offer support with homelessness, housing support, mental health, independent living, preventing isolation, parental mentoring, refugee resettlement and social prescribing.

We recognise that every human being encounters challenges in life and we’re here to support anyone who finds themselves in a time of difficulty, either through directly offering our support, or helping them to find the right support elsewhere.

We focus on you as an individual, to understand your circumstances, abilities and challenges so we can begin to support and equip you to build a better life. You tell us what you want to achieve, your goals and aspirations and we will work with you, providing practical and emotional support to help you to build the skills and confidence to deal with the ups and downs of life.

By working collaboratively with other organisations, we provide tailored support and advice to a range of adults (young and old) and families in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Milton Keynes, ensuring we achieve the best outcome for all our clients.
