High Wycombe Community Transport provides a service of transporting vulnerable individuals to and from medical appointments or social activities.

Background

An increasing aging population in Buckinghamshire means that the need and demand for public transport will grow. The High Wycombe Transport Scheme provides a service of transporting vulnerable members of the community, who otherwise struggle to access public and private transport for whatever reason, to and from medical appointments, to pick up shopping, and for other social activities.

As a Volunteer Driver, you would be joining a team of volunteer drivers to provide this transport service to people living in and around High Wycombe.

Main tasks:

Drivers use their own cars to take older people, or vulnerable individuals without other means of transport available, to medical appointments, shopping trips, and other social activities. All journeys will be organised through the Volunteer Driver Co-ordinator.

What we are looking for:

  • An experienced and safe driver, who holds a full UK driving licence
  • Car must be in good condition, and you must have fully comprehensive car insurance
  • You should be in good health and able to give assistance to passengers to enter/exit your car, if required
  • A friendly manner
  • Able to respect the confidentiality of all callers

What we can offer:

Volunteering with us will give you the opportunity:

  • To become an active member in a community transport scheme
  • To meet new people whilst providing an important and highly valued service to the local community
  • To meet other Community Impact Bucks volunteers

All volunteers are provided with an induction pack prior to beginning the role.

Our volunteer drives are able to claim 45 pence per mile for all journeys undertaken on behalf of the car scheme.

References and DBS checks are required.
