Opportunity for local Buckinghamshire Volunteer Managers to gain tips on volunteer recruitment, selection and retention

Volunteer Managers’ Network – Volunteer Recruitment, Selection, and Retention

Having a thorough recruitment and selection process when recruiting volunteers is essential. For your organisation it means you are able to find the best volunteer for the role, whether it’s a trustee, administrator, gardener, or volunteer driver. And for volunteers, it demonstrates clear expectations throughout the process.

We’ll be joined by HR Expert Alexandra Smith, who has developed a series of online resources to support Volunteer Managers, or anyone who looks after volunteers, through the recruitment and selection process.

We’ll also be discussing ways in which organisations can better retain their existing volunteers. By preparing for Volunteers’ Week in June, you can show how much you appreciate your volunteers, celebrate their success, and thank them for their invaluable support to the sector.

This networking meeting will also include:

  • An update from the Volunteer Bucks team
  • The opportunity to network with other local Volunteer Managers from across Buckinghamshire

Who should attend?

Anyone (paid/unpaid) who is involved with recruiting/managing volunteers for charities, community groups or social enterprises that deliver services in Buckinghamshire. Whether you’re new in your role with lots of questions, or an experienced manager.

The event is for organisations whose beneficiaries are in Buckinghamshire, priority will be given to organisations with a turnover of £100,000 or below. Both new and established organisations, of all sizes, are welcome and we encourage all groups to share their experiences with others.

Guest Speaker:

Alexandra Smith’s career over the last 25+ years has included director roles in human resources and being an independent HR consultant and coach since 2003. With a passion for helping charity leaders succeed, Alexandra brings a wealth of experience to her coaching, having worked with leaders and managers in a wide variety of organisations.

Alexandra’s coaching style is both supportive and inspiring, as she works with clients to find pragmatic solutions to issues.
