Second in a series of free board effectiveness webinars to help local Buckinghamshire charities become more effective
Good decision-making depends on a number of factors, including having the right people around the board table. Small charities can face particular challenges in recruiting trustees with the skills, experience and diversity of perspectives needed to govern effectively.
Equally important are the relationships within the wider organisational structure. Healthy, respectful dialogue is essential between trustees, senior staff and volunteers to create a culture where information flows openly, risks are understood and decisions are informed by both governance expertise and operational insight.
What you will take away from this event
We will be once again joined by Nigel Kippax, whose knowledge and experience of the sector will provide understanding of:
- Different board compositions referring to recent research at Bath University
- Guidance around trustee recruitment practices
- Balancing authority and control between board members and staff
This session will also give attendees the opportunity to network with other professions in the small charity sector and share insights.
