Love music and enjoy bringing people together? Chesham Beats is a weekly music therapy group for people with learning disabilities, autism or additional needs. The group provides a friendly, inclusive space to come together, make music, sing and enjoy shared musical experiences in a relaxed and supportive environment.  Through shared musical experiences and creative activities, the group encourages communication, confidence and social connection. As a volunteer, you’ll help create a positive space where everyone can take part, express themselves and enjoy the benefits of making music together.

We believe in a caring world where music is a transformative thread in everyday life. Together, we harness the power of music, inspire through human story, and fascinate through science to build inclusive, supportive communities.

  • Help pack down after the session;
  • Help create a calm, safe, and supportive atmosphere;
  • Support attendees alongside the Music Therapist, responding sensitively to individual needs.

Who This Role Is For

  • People interested in community wellbeing;
  • Friendly, patient, and reliable volunteers;
  • Those comfortable supporting individuals with additional needs;
  • Individuals able to work alongside a music therapist.

What You’ll Gain

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference through music;
  • Experience in a music therapy group supporting those with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs;
  • Insight into how music can build confidence, social skills and develop communication;
