·        Flexible, depending on their needs and your availability

What you will be doing:

·        Meeting a blind or partially sighted person at their home or agreed location

·        Acting as a sighted guide while shopping together

·        Assisting with purchases and handling items where needed

·        (Sometimes) helping put shopping away at home afterwards

·        Providing companionship and conversation during the trip

What skills and experience are needed?

·        Caring, friendly, and understanding nature

·        Good communication and listening skills

·        Reliable and patient

·        Willing to commit for at least six months

·        (If driving) a full UK licence, MOT, and insurance

What will you gain from the role?

·        The joy of making everyday life easier for someone with sight loss

·        A sense of purpose and achievement

·        Improved confidence and new experiences

·        Friendship and connection in your community

What support will be given?

·        Induction and training (including sight loss awareness and sighted guiding)

·        Out-of-pocket expenses covered

·        Support from your Volunteer Supervisor
