We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can deliver our ever popular Storytime sessions.

Our Storytime sessions offer a variety of stories to children and their parent's or carers chosen from picture books in the library. We are looking for someone who can host weekly 30 minute storytime sessions in our community library, on either a Thursday or Friday morning.


As part of the role you will be required to:


  • To assist with the setting up the session and help to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
  • To meet and greet families attending Storytime.
  • To choose and read stories to the group.
  • Tasks will be carried out in a public environment.
  • Sessions last up to 30 minutes.
  • To signpost queries from members of the public to the appropriate member of staff.
  • To take part in an induction process.
  • To be aware of Buckinghamshire Council’s aims, organisational values and behaviours and their impact on this role.
  • To carry out the duties of this role in accordance with the Council’s policies in respect of diversity and community cohesion

 

Skills required:

 

  • Good communicator and comfortable engaging with people, including those with additional needs
  • An interest and awareness of library services and early years development would be beneficial.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
