We're looking for an energetic individual to recruit local creatives to offer one-off summer sessions at the library during July and August.

This summer’s Open Weekend theme, Roots, Rhythms & Rituals, is a vibrant celebration of the people, places and practices that shape our cultural identity. 

Tasks to do in liaison with library staff: 

  • Contact local artists and makers
  • Liaise with them to plan one-off sessions at the library during July and August
  • Help prepare and distribute publicity materials
  • Be present on the days of the events where possible (Open Weekend dates are 14-15 August, 21-22 August & 28-29 August)
  • Signpost queries from members of the public to the appropriate member of staff
  • Be a positive ambassador for the library service.
  • Take part in an induction process.
  • Be aware of Buckinghamshire Council’s aims, organisational values and behaviours and their impact on this role.
  • Carry out the duties of this role in accordance with the Council’s policies in respect of diversity and community cohesion.
  • Carry out all tasks and responsibilities with reasonable care for the health and safety of others and to co-operate fully with the Council in Health and Safety matters. 

 

Skills required:

  • Good communicator and comfortable engaging with people
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
  • Some IT skills (for example, email, internet research, design skills)
