COFFEE MORNING VOLUNTEER: We are looking for someone to set up our new monthly coffee morning for carers, and tidy and wash up afterwards.
We are looking for a volunteer to help us with our new Coffee Morning "Matters & Natters". This event offers somewhere for customers to sit and relax, savour a hot drink and some biscuits, meet new acquaintances, and enjoy a welcoming ambience. We hope this event will ultimately offer informal support to customers feeling lonely, going through a difficult time, that are carers, or otherwise in need of a listening ear.
The coffee morning will run on the first Friday of the month from 11.30-12.30.
The volunteer would set up the space, prepare the urns with hot water, lay out the cups, mugs and any biscuits, before the session starts at 11.30. The volunteer does not have to stay for the duration of the session, but this would be helpful as they could engage and welcome customers. However, we would need them to return for 12.30 to tidy the items away, wash up, dry up and place things back in their place.
We are expecting a small take-up for the event (4-5 people) but it could be up to 10 or more.

As part of the role you will be required:
- To assist with the setting up process for the activity and help to ensure a safe and comfortable environment
- To meet and greet visitors
- To prepare the hot water urns, lay out the table with mugs, cups & saucers.
- To tidy away at the end of the session, wash up and put things back in their correct place.
- To carry out tasks in a public environment
- To signpost queries from members of the public to the appropriate member of staff
- To take part in an induction process
- To be aware of Buckinghamshire Council’s aims, organisational values and behaviours and their impact on this role.
- To carry out the duties of this role in accordance with the Council’s policies in respect of diversity and community cohesion
Skills required:
- You're a clear and confident communicator, comfortable engaging with people (particularly children).
- An interest in the library service would be beneficial.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
