We looking for a dedicated volunteer to monitor the health and welfare of BBOWT’s livestock on a Monday. No experience necessary as full training provided.

You will help to monitor the Trust’s livestock, visiting the site(s)* once a week to check that they are healthy and have water. You’ll also need to check that fences are in good repair. If there are any signs of poor condition, illness, or damage to infrastructure, you will report this to Land Management staff.

These checks are in addition to those carried out by staff.

You’ll need to be comfortable around livestock (sheep, and semi-wild ponies) and accessing locations with uneven and hilly terrain. This is a solo role, so a willingness to carry out duties unsupervised is essential.

*Livestock may be present on one or both sites, depending on the time of year. Grazing mainly occurs in autumn and winter.

About Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT)

BBOWT is the only voluntary organisation in the region concerned with all aspects of nature conservation. We give wildlife a helping hand to ensure it thrives in our three counties. As well as managing our nature reserves, this includes monitoring species and running special projects to support declining species such as water voles, or threatened habitats such as chalk grassland. We also advise other landowners about how to care for habitats and species.
