The work party carries out a wide range of practical tasks in order to undertake habitat management using hand and power tools (subject to training).

The work party undertakes a wide range of tasks, including fencing, scrub clearance, island vegetation cutting, grassland mowing, coppicing, path maintenance, access works, ragwort control and assisting with livestock. No experience necessary, but enthusiasm is important. Training provided for all practical tasks.

The group meets every Friday at 9.45am until around 3.00pm. Ideally, we would expect attendance of a minimum of one session per month.

As a conservation work party volunteer, you will be actively involved at one of BBOWT’s flagship sites, contributing to the conservation of some important habitats and species. You would also have the chance to learn new skills and benefit from training in a wide range of practical tasks with a dedicated, cheerful, and friendly team of other volunteers.

About Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT)

BBOWT is the only voluntary organisation in the region concerned with all aspects of nature conservation. We give wildlife a helping hand to ensure it thrives in our three counties. As well as managing our nature reserves, this includes monitoring species and running special projects to support declining species such as water voles, or threatened habitats such as chalk grassland. We also advise other landowners about how to care for habitats and species.
